Pride and Prejudice

Rating- 5/5

I recently read one of the most popular novels by English novelist Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice. The classic tale of Elizabeth Bennet, Charles Bingley, and Fitzwilliam Darcy. There have been dozens of remakes, parodies, and fanfictions based on this novel, and it was about time I read the original. I think it’s safe to say that Pride and Prejudice is one of the most beautifully written novels of its time. The best parts of this book are Jane Austen’s voice, the intricate storyline, and the wit of the characters.

Although it takes a little more time to read Pride and Prejudice because of the language, it’s completely worth it. Jane Austen has great social commentary, realism and wit. Her characters will make you laugh out loud with their irony and witty arguments. Austen also writes beautifully when she talks about love, family, and friendship. This book is truly a marvelous addition to English literature.

I would recommend this book to older readers, high school and above, because of the complicated and old fashioned language Austen uses. However, younger readers who enjoy English literature would also enjoy this book.
